Book review: The book with no pictures

Picture books have very much monopolised the market of books for little people.  American author, comedian and screen writer B. J. Novak (of The American Office fame) is releasing a book for small children that breaks the convention of traditional children’s books with “The book with no pictures.”

The book with no pictures is just as it’s title suggests, a book with no pictures.  This is potentially a hard sell to young children and early readers but the book is more than just words on a page.

Phonics fun with Biff, Chip And Kipper update

Following my previous post of first impressions HERE we have continued to enjoy playing with Phonics fun with Biff, Chip And Kipper on our 2DS.

Moo has played through the initial Stages 1 games and activities that focused on sounds and is now beginning on stages 1+ and 2 which are more focused on simple phonetic words such as “bug, Dad and pot.”

Book review: Percy Jackson The Blood of Olympus

Every year I see children’s books wash in and out of fashion.  Few are able to stay the course like the Percy Jackson series has.

The books, written Rick Riordan, make ingenious use of the classic stories of Gods, Monsters and Men from Greek Mythology and sets them in the modern world.

Initial impressions of Phonics fun with Biff, Chip and Kipper

The Biff, Chip and Kipper books are nearly as old as I am (thanks for that Wikipedia) and I turned 31 yesterday!  phonics fun 3

The books are a series of stories designed to teach children how to read and speak English in line with the National Curriculum that is taught in schools.  Because of this they have been incredibly popular with parents and schools for nearly 30 years!
