This Month has seen the release of a number of BIG games. Titles such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, Super Smash Bros and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be popular on plenty of people’s Christmas lists.
Games featuring “open worlds” are growing dramatically in popularity. They afford their players large worlds to explore, enjoy and usually offer a hours of content. Of the various genres of open world titles that are available it’s the action adventure titles traditionally attract the most sales.
This Christmas the most popular of these open world action-adventure games are Assassins Creed: Unity, Grand Theft Auto V and Far Cry 4.
The question is, if you’re a fan, which one of these is the game for you to spend hours exploring.
Assassins Creed: Unity
This year’s Assassins Creed game is set predominantly in Paris during the bloody days of the French Revolution. It sees a young Assassin learning the ropes of what it means to be an honoured member of the Assassins Creed and attempts to build upon many of the previous games strengths. These improvements include cooperative play, a greater variety of missions and a new free running system that now allows you to smoothly descend as well as climb to the cities lofty heights.
Grand Theft Auto V
Not settling for it’s impressive title of fastest selling entertainment product in history when it was released last year for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 this year sees Grand Theft Auto V being released on the new generation of consoles. This has allowed significant graphical improvements and a new first person perspective mode.
The game revolves primarily around the shenanigans of 3 anti heroes. They come from dramatically differing backgrounds but team up to carry out series of heists throughout the game’s campaign.
Far Cry 4
Far Cry 4 sends the player to an infrequently visited area of the world in video games, Nepal. The player is travelling to a region that is caught up in a bitter civil war with the hope of spreading his Mother’s ashes. Upon his arrival he quickly meets the regions self proclaimed ruler, Pagan Ming.
From there this first person shooter opens up allows allows the player an amazing amount of freedom to work their way around the region fighting against Pagan Ming’s forces.
All of these games offer amazing value for money. Their open world maps are all dramatically different from each other but all allow for a stunning amount of freedom.
What are their stand out features?
Assassins Creed has a wonderful fighting system and allows players to explore Paris at a pivotal time in the city’s past. The free running has never been better and the thrill of successfully carrying out an assassination never grows old.
Grand Theft Auto V has a huge area to play in based upon Los Angeles, California. It features lots of wonderful vehicles to drive and fly and it’s heists a epic in scale and an incredible joy to complete.
Far Cry 4 looks unbelievably stunning, it’s Himalayan backdrop is a great way of showing off your XBOX One or Playstation 4’s graphical ability. If you’d like to play a first person shooter that provides you with a vast amount of possibilities about how you approach every situation, Far Cry 4 is the game for you.
